Nine Things From Target You Need Right Now

Hello my dears, and happy hump day! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far. This weekend was a busy one for me: Saturday I helped host a bridal shower for my sister-in-law, and Sunday I attended the Go Blog Social Workshop. Both days were a blast, but by Monday I was pretty exhausted. I didn’t do a GBS recap like I did last year, but if you are following along on Instagram you can see my photos from the day. And yesterday I did not get a chance to blog because I was busy celebrating my hubby’s 29th birthday! Luckily he has a much younger wife who does not enter the last year of her 20’s for another 3 months.

My inspiration for the post today comes from wanting to show you some of my recent acquisitions for my home, two of which come from Target. So I thought, why not highlight those finds plus some other amazing items from everyone’s favorite superstore? Because I know you all love Target, right?

Target Accesssories

Blue Foo Dog, $13 // Blue Button Tufted Ottoman, $60 // Teal Stripe 9” Vase, $20 // Nate Berkus Gold Elephant Trinket Dish, $10 // Ceramic Hanging Planter, $15 // Black Kilim Table Runner, $18 // Nate Berkus Black/Shell 5’x7’ Area Rug, $130 // Blue Textured Line Pillow, $25 // Cream/Gold Ceramic Accent Table, $70

A few weeks ago, I bought a set of the foo dogs and the kilim table runner and I absolutely love them! The foo dogs haven’t found a home yet, but the table runner looks great in my dining room, especially with leftover blooms from Saturday’s shower on the table.

I found a few of the other items, like the ceramic hanger and the ceramic accent table, in this post from Emily Henderson about a budget room design she and her team pulled off in one weekend. Man, can that girl style a room. #jealous.

Have you found anything good at Target? Anything from this post or otherwise that you have your eye on?

Golden Globes Color Trend: Sparkling Silver

Time for part two of my color trend series inspired by Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet. Today I’m loving silver, just like the fabulous dresses seen below on Dakota Johnson, Reese Witherspoon, and Julianne Moore.

I’m so jealous of their pretty, sparkly dresses! They just look perfect for the awards show.

Sparkly silver can be harder to pull off in the home, but if done well it’s lovely. Use some metallic accents, like lamps or pendant lights, some silver wallpaper, or mirrored furniture to add a glamorous feel to your room.

Here are a few beautiful rooms that figured out how to pull off silver well.

And here are a few accents you can bring into your home. Try the silver curtains and the mirrored coffee table for a sophisticated living room, or the sequined lamp and beaded pillows for a fun teen girl’s room.

Manzanita Wall Jewelry Branch, West Elm, $99 // Foxed Mirrored Faceted Pendant, West Elm, $120 // Grand Silver Burst Mirror, Pier 1, $60 // Threshold Banded Faux Silk Curtain Panel, Target, $30 // Silver Sequin Table Lamp, Bed Bath & Beyond, $25 // Threshold Metal Accent Table, Target, $60 // Silver Beaded Bloom Pillow, Pier 1, $40 // Moroccan Pouf, Kouvy, $100 // Hayworth Coffee Table, Pier 1, $400

I’m dying over that Moroccan pouf, and I love the Target side table; I even used it in my friend’s apartment makeover. Do you have silver in your house?

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for my final post of my Golden Globes color trend series!

Golden Globes Color Trend: Canary Yellow

Hello lovelies, did everyone watch the Golden Globes Sunday night? I just love awards shows, especially the red carpet. I get such joy from seeing celebrities all dolled up in fabulous gowns, and I like to imagine what kind of couture dress I would wear if I were lucky enough to ever walk a red carpet myself (a girl can dream, right?).

There were some pretty obvious color trends this year at the Golden Globes red carpet, and they’ve inspired me to start 2015 with a week-long series inspired by these gorgeous dresses.

First up: canary yellow. It’s a hard color to pull off, but don’t Naomi Watts, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Leslie Mann look stunning?

Yellow can also be a hard color to pull off in the home, but if done right it’s so lovely and refreshing.

Black and Yellow, I think I will do this in our laundry room. Why not make it a happy room.

It might be the dreary winter weather, but yellow is looking particularly alluring to me right now. It just adds so much brightness and energy to a room, don’t you think? You don’t have to do a full makeover to bring a little yellow into your home; a few accessories or one statement piece in a bright hue will do the trick. Here are a few of my favorites.

yellow accessories

Thomas Paul Dhurrie Rug, AllModern.com, $523 for 5’x8’ // Linework Honeycomb Vase, West Elm, $39 // Threshold Flocked Ogee Lamp Shade, Target, $25 for large // Threshold Fretwork Accent Table, Target, $90 // Willa Yellow Side Chair, Crate & Barrel, $99 // Stockholm Glass Door Cabinet, Ikea, $399 // Camilla 2-Seat Sofa, Crate & Barrel, $1599 // Room Essentials Pillow, Target, $17

Do you have any yellow in your home, or are you thinking of adding any? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

P.S. Come back tomorrow to see my next Golden Globes color trend feature!

Friday Favorites 9.19.14

Hello friends! Sorry for the slow week, I’ve been pretty busy the last few days but I promise I’ll have some good posts to show for it soon. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite things from the interwebs I’ve found lately.

This Blog Post

My friend Kari  at This, Too wrote the sweetest post this week titled “The Ladybug.” It’s hard to describe, but I promise it’s worth checking out.

Smart Girls

I, like most women on the planet, adore Amy Poehler, so I obviously had to check out Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls when it popped up on my facebook news feed. The Smart Girls group, according to their fb page, is

“an online community for young girls and the young at heart, which encourages women in volunteerism, activism, cultural exchange, and self-expression through the arts. Founded by best friends, comedian Amy Poehler and producer Meredith Walker, the organization is dedicated to helping girls cultivate their authentic selves. Our motto is: You Change the World by Being Yourself.”

What a great mission! They work towards this vision by sharing articles every day about women doing interesting and inspiring things in their community. I don’t read every article they post, but I really enjoy the ones I do read. I’d definitely recommend following along!

These Rooms

JA rooms

I have a deep, undying love for anything and everything Jonathan Adler, so of course I love following him on Instagram. I’m obsessed with these rooms he’s posted recently, they’re so pretty! For more prettiness follow Jonathan Adler on Instagram.

That’s it for today! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I’m hoping to check out the Plaza Art Fair, what do you have planned?

Birthday Wishlist 2014

My birthday will be here in less than two weeks (May 20!) which means it’s time for my annual birthday wishlist post. Here are a few things I’m loving right now in case you’re looking for something to buy me Smile

  • Threshold Urchin Shelf Sculpture, because I always need more gold/brass accessories around the house. (Target, $13)
  • I’d love a new jewelry box, and this one from Z Gallerie is the right size, style, and price (which has been surprisingly hard to find). (Largo Jewelry Box, $40)
  • Have you heard of these Charlie Hustle t-shirts? They’re getting really popular, especially in Kansas City which is where they’re made. I love this light blue KC one. (KC Heart, $32).
  • I always need more cute summer outfits right? I’m obsessed with this bright tribal print skirt from Target, and I think it would look really cute with a white tank and this lightweight knit vest. (Merona skirt and Mossimo vest, $23 each)
  • The nautical theme is really big right now, and this rattan tray would be an easy way to incorporate the trend and bring a little bit of summer into my living room. (Target, $20)
  • Who doesn’t want a pretty new pair of earrings for their birthday? I think this pair from Stella & Dot is beautiful and they would look great with almost any outfit. (Fiona Earrings, $39)
  • I’ve loved Anthropologie’s latte bowls for a long time. I have two dark blue ones and they are so versatile, but one of them got chipped recently. I think that’s a perfect excuse to add this colorful set to my kitchen! (Assorted Latte Bowls, $20)
  • No wishlist is complete without something Kate Spade! This great little tote from Strand Books is perfect for a day of shopping, and at only $15, it’s the cheapest Kate Spade bag out there! (Strand Books, $15)

New Spring Finds at Target

Even though it hasn’t felt like it the past few days, Spring is officially here. We all know that Target is a great place to find new furniture and home accessories at affordable prices, so why not get a few things to update your home for spring? Target’s spring collections dip into several different trends, including nautical, floral, brass/gold, kilims and world prints, spring hues, and natural textures. There are tons of good pieces but below are a few of my favorites. I’ll take one of everything, please!

"Spring Target Home Finds" by blue11interiors on Polyvore

Threshold 9.4” Urchin Sculpture, $20 / Threshold X-base Ottoman in Mango Berry, $60 / Threshold Kilim Square Poof, $56* / Threshold Floral Lamp Shade (Large), $25 / Threshold Woven Diamond Patterned Pillow, $20 / Threshold Brass Cage Accent Table, $70 / Threshold Round Rope Mirror, $40 / Nate Berkus Accent Table – White Washed, $80 / Threshold Striped Storage Bin, $20

* current sale price

I’m also really loving this metal patio bench. The back is reminiscent of the Chinese Chippendale style, which I’m obsessed with, and it’s currently on sale for only $155. That’s a great price considering it also includes the cushion. It could be the perfect piece to dress up our front porch!

Are any of the above items on your wish list now? Or have you found any other great pieces at Target lately?

Apartment Makeover Source List

Yesterday I showed you my friend Kate’s apartment makeover and I think you guys liked it. Thanks to everyone who read it and especially to those who left nice comments, I really appreciate it!

Today I’m back with a breakdown of what we bought and how much we spent. You might remember from the mood board post that we had a tight budget of only $1000. We spent pretty much all of the money on the living room since she already had furnishings for the rest of the apartment.

This is what the living room looked like when she moved in:

IMG_1850

The only pieces we kept here are the gold chaise, the coffee table, and the TV/TV stand. We replaced the side table and moved the floral chair and table lamp to the bedroom. So now the living room looks like this:

DSC_0041

DSC_0062

DSC_0059

Here’s a breakdown of everything we bought:

Sofa: Target (no longer available), $300

Side Chair: Hudson Swoop Chair-Gray/Citron from Target, $150

Silver Table: Threshold Metal Accent Table from Target: $60

Pink Table: Target (no longer available), $10

Ikat Curtains: HomeGoods, $30

Throw Pillows: Blue Geometric and Coral Ikat Print Covers from 5C Home Décor on Etsy, $15 each

Area Rug: 6’x9’ Moroccan Trellis in Spa Blue from Rugs USA, $170

Lamps: Room Essentials Torchiere Floor Lamp-Silver from Target, $8 each

Total: $781

We spent about another $100 on a few accessories, hardware for the curtains, supplies for the shelves, and incidentals like paint, so even with the extra $100 we only spent about $880…well below our $1000 budget!!

Kate already had most of the accessories and art so we didn’t have to spend much money there. She also saved money by doing a few DIY projects.

DSC_0067

The shelves under the countertop were a Pinterest-inspired project that Kate thought of and executed all on her own (though I did help style the shelves a little). She hit up Home Depot and picked up 8 cinderblocks and 3 boards, which she had them cut to size in the store. So easy! So for hardly any money she created custom built-in shelves in a space that would have otherwise gone unused. It’s the perfect spot to display books, framed art and photos, and other special knick-knacks.

DSC_0042

Other DIY projects included the “Let it Be” art and the tray on the coffee table. The painting started out as a floral still life Kate painted at one of those paint and wine party places. It was really cute but the colors were kind of overwhelming and it just didn’t go with the other art, so Kate bought some vinyl letters, stuck them on the canvas, and painted over them with some blue paint. I really love how it turned out!

The tray started out as the top of a wine bar, but since Kate already had another bar table that she liked better she got rid of the old wine rack but kept the detachable tray top. She simply painted it white and added a pink border to give it a little pop of color. It goes so well with the pink side table and the pink pillow in the center of the couch.

The yellow chevron pillows were a DIY project from Kate’s last apartment but they work great here. She bought some inexpensive fabric at Hobby Lobby to recover a couple old pillows using a no-sew method like the one shown here. Easy!

I think that about covers it. If you have any questions about where anything else came from feel free to ask in the comments section and I’ll get back to you!

How I Decorated My Mantle

Does that title remind anyone else of “How I Met Your Mother?” By the way, I just read that Monday’s episode is titled “How Your Mother Met Me”…does this mean Ted and the mother will finally meet?! I sure hope so; this season of HIMYM has been keeping us hanging for too long!

Ok, back to my mantle…last week I asked you all for your opinions on what should star on my redecorated mantle: the Target sunburst mirror, a vintage gold mirror, or a DIY abstract painting. I got the most votes for the painting but I also got some votes for the Target mirror and the vintage mirror. Well, I decided to go for…

IMG_2651

The Target mirror! Although it wasn’t necessarily my first choice it was the easiest, and I’m all about easy these days. Plus, it happened to be on sale when I bought it so it only cost $36! (P.S. it’s still on sale if you want to get one of your own!)

IMG_2643

In addition to the mirror I added a pink peony and ranunculus arrangement (also from Target), a lovely vintage Vogue cover (which was a wedding gift from my aunt), some books flanked by my new Jonathan Adler foo dog bookends that I’ve been wanting for a while (thanks to my mother-in-law for getting those for me for Christmas!) and a blue glass bottle from HomeGoods with some faux pussy willow stems.

IMG_2644

IMG_2646

IMG_2640

I also picked up this Nate Berkus basket from Target a few weeks ago on clearance for only $10! I really love how it looks next to the fireplace.

IMG_2649

The pink accents on the mantle go well with my new suzani pillows, don’t you think?

IMG_2656

IMG_2654

I paired the suzani pillows with some nice white and silver pillows from Target (wow, this post really is all about Target today isn’t it!).

What do you think? I’d still like to try my hand at a DIY abstract painting but it can be an accent piece, not the centerpiece of the mantle.

Everything Old is New Again

I was browsing Target’s home décor new arrivals yesterday and I found these brass egrets.

Brass Egrets

Do they look familiar to anyone else??

IMG_2552

Yep, they are definitely reminiscent of my vintage brass cranes I have on my coffee table. Obviously they’re not a direct rip-off but they definitely do have that vintage vibe. The new cranes do come with a new price though. The Target versions are $18.99 each, whereas my thrift shop finds only cost a few dollars.

New Tables by Threshold at Target

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…the Threshold brand at Target is killing it. They’re putting out really stylish and trendy furniture and home accessories for fantastic prices. To prove my point, look at these new tables. Would it be wrong to buy them all?

Threshold™ Fretwork Console Table

Which ones are your favorites? That pink agate table is so pretty and on trend, and I love the gray faux snakeskin table…it would be pretty great as a nightstand, don’t you think?

I Have My Eye On…

This yellow nightstand from Target. It’s from the Threshold collection, of course. They are really hitting it out of the park with Threshold right now.

Threshold™ Windham Side Table with Shelf - Yellow

I think it would add some needed color to my bedroom and it show go great with my Thomas Paul fabric chair, also from Target.

Burke Armless Upholstered Slipper Chair - Aegean Blue/Yellow Floral

What do you think? Too much yellow or just the right amount? It’s $110, which isn’t bad but more than I have right now and more than I’d like to spend on a nightstand from Target. But I’m watching for it to go on sale!

I’m also in love with these little brass animals, also by Threshold. They are just too adorable and they’re only $10 each! They’re very popular in the blog world and I think I need to pick up one of them (elephant or rhino??) for myself soon!

Threshold™ Brass Animals

Have you found anything you can’t live without at Target lately?
