Dream House

I found my dream house. And by dream, I mean the only way I could ever own it is if I had unlimited money. But if I did, and I chose to stay in Kansas City (I’d have to have a vacation home on the beach somewhere too), this home would be pretty much perfect.

According to the listing, the home has 8 bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms, 3 half baths, a four car garage, and it sits on 2.7 acres. Plus it has a great story and an amazing location:

True Kansas City Landmark steeped in history. Wight & Wight, whose achievements include the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, designed this magnificent home for the Ward family. Built in 1906 on a 2.7 acre lot with a splendid view of the Loose Park Rose Garden. The grand staircase and stained-glass windows on the mezzanine level captivate all who enter.

Pretty incredible right? Of course I would update the décor a little bit, especially in the bedrooms. Using the same fabric on the duvet cover, draperies, and ever piece of upholstery is so not cool, but it’s an amazing home. Plus it’s located right by the Loose Park Rose Garden which is where my hubby proposed to me Smile

The house also comes with an incredible price. It’s listed at a whopping $2,175,000. And then you have pay taxes on top of that which are currently just under $30,000 a year. That may or may not be more than my entire salary last year.

Beautiful Bedrooms

Confession time: I’ve been feeling a little down this week. Nothing major, just feeling like I want to hang out at home and do absolutely nothing productive. I’m sure you’ve all been there too.

So on days when you just want to stay in bed a beautiful bedroom would make it all that much harder to want to leave.

Spring Dinner Party

Hello dear readers. I hope you are all having a good start to the week, even if you are experiencing a second wave of winter like we are in KC today. It was a little nicer out this weekend and I got to enjoy it with some friends when they came over for dinner Saturday night. Ben grilled and we ate out on the deck for the first time this year. It was a wonderful night!

We made a lemon orzo pasta salad with asparagus and tomatoes, grilled Hawaiian chicken kabobs (I added red pepper), and a Moroccan orange cake (with a vanilla glaze frosting added). I also served my favorite French aperitif, kir. It was all really delicious!

It was really nice to enjoy a home-cooked meal full of fresh flavors at home with some good friends. The last few weeks have been pretty hectic (hence the lack of blog post lately) so this was a nice break.

Have you made any good recipes lately?

I Have My Eye On…

These gold foo dogs from Z Gallerie.

Beth at Chinoiserie Chic introduced me to them a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to get them out of my head. I love foo dogs, as I’ve mentioned here, here and shown here, but I’ve never seen a pair of gold ones before. GOLD! I have to have them. They’re at the top of my “I obviously don’t really need this but I still really need it” list.

Oh, and did I mention they’re only $49.95?! Not too shabby.

Dining by Design Recap

Hello everyone! I think I am finally recovered from this crazy weekend and I’m starting to catch up on life. Dining by Design was amazing!! This was my first time participating or attending the event and I was so happy with how it turned out! The tables were absolutely gorgeous, I had fun mingling and meeting new people, the food and drinks were delicious…it was just all around an amazing night. I will admit that I am happy it’s over though, it was a LOT of work. Totally worth it though Smile

I helped my boss Katy Sullivan with two tables. We did a Moroccan table for 20 people in the walkway of The Gallery. The benches and tables were custom built and all the table décor and lanterns were loaned to us from Pryde’s Old Westport. The beautiful rugs were borrowed from The Knotty Rug. We also had custom draping installed to add more color and atmosphere. I absolutely love how it came together!

I wish I had taken more pictures at night; it was so pretty in the low light!

Katy was also asked to design a table for Scalamandre. They were promoting their new line of china by Lenox which is absolutely gorgeous in person! This table was so different from the Moroccan table but I love it just as much. It made a huge impact in the space too.

I am so proud of our tables! They were definitely attention grabbers and we got a lot of compliments on them. Of course there were a ton of other gorgeous tables by other designers. Here are just a few of the ones I loved.

Completely gorgeous right?! I had so much fun being a part of this event. I highly recommend checking it out next year if you’re in KC, or check to see if there’s a Dining by Design in a city near you!
