Fave TV Apartment: The Mindy Project

Are you guys watching The Mindy Project on Fox? I love it. Mindy Kaling is so cute and funny. The chemistry with her co-worker Danny is also fantastic. Who else is waiting for them to finally get together?!

There are some kind of crazy supporting characters on the show (I personally can’t stand Morgan), but my favorite supporting “character” is Mindy’s apartment. It is so gorgeous! I’m ready to move in right now!

The first two pictures are from last night’s episode with Seth Rogan. Look at that gorgeous yellow chair!

And that pearl tufted headboard is so fab! I love the built-ins on both sides too.

Here’s another view from a different episode.

Here’s a shot of Mindy’s entryway. That red-orange paint is the perfect accent.

image

I love that they painted the inside of her door tangerine. What a great idea!

image

A peek inside Mindy’s living room. Abstract artwork, a white and blue side chair, and more built-ins.

image

And here’s another shot. More gorgeous artwork, a beautiful old fireplace, and you can see a tiny bit of the incredible turquoise glass chandelier.

image

Here’s a shot of the kitchen from Mindy and Josh’s disastrous Christmas party.

image

Even her office is super stylish. She has a great red office chair, cute desk accessories, and a fab tangerine lamp.

I was so inspired by Mindy’s apartment that I did some online shopping for similar pieces from her apartment. I even found the same Robert Abbey lamp from her office!

Snowmageddon

It’s crazy here y’all. Last Thursday we got about 12 inches of snow and today it’s snowing more. We’ve probably got at least another 12 inches today but we’re predicted to get up to 18 inches. At least it was somewhat warm this weekend so some of last week’s snow had a chance to melt. Here’s the view from my house this morning.

And just to give you a better idea of how much it snowed, here are a couple pictures of it snowing yesterday afternoon.

Crazy! It’s the kind of weather that makes me wish I had a cozy home library where I could curl up and read a good book.

I hope you all are staying warm and cozy, wherever you are!

Nine Throw Pillows Under $25

Throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to introduce color, pattern, and texture to a room.  The price of throw pillows varies wildly; a handmade pillow in a quality designer fabric can cost you several hundred dollars.  Since most people don't have that much money to spend on accessories I rounded up some really stylish options that are all under $25.  Now that's an easy and affordable way to change up your look.

Throw Pillows under $25

1. Citrine lumbar pillow, Etsy, $17  2. Black houndstooth pillow, Etsy, $16  3. Red piping pillow, Target, $19.99  4. Multi ribbon pillow, Pier 1, $24.95  5. DIY: Gold Polka Dot Lampshade

The DIY bug hit me yesterday.  I was just itching to make over something.  Does anyone else get that bug much?  Anyway, I decided to attack some lampshades.

You may remember what my bedroom looks like from this post.

IMG_2184

It’s nice and coming together well, but it’s kind of cold and boring.  One thing that was bothering me in particular were the gray lampshades. So I switched them out for the plain white lampshades I had originally bought for these lamps almost five years ago.

IMG_2328

That looks a little bit better but still quite boring.  So out came my new gold sharpie:

IMG_2330

I wanted to make this as easy and free form as possible, so I went with some scattered polka dots, inspired by one of my faves, kate spade

And here’s how it turned out:

IMG_2332

What do you think?  I’m a little underwhelmed to be honest.  I thought the gold color would be more like in the kate spade dishes above, but this is definitely more of a brown gold.

IMG_2333

IMG_2334

I do kind of like how it mimics the gold nail head trim on the headboard.  Since I’m not in love with it yet I wanted to get your opinions before I do the second one.  I do like it better than the gray lampshades though.

IMG_2335

So what do you think I should do? I have four options:

  1. Go back to the gray shades
  2. Embrace the polka dots and do my other white shade to match
  3. Add something or change something to the polka dot shades
  4. Scrap the whole thing and buy brand new lamp shades

Thirty by Thirty

My wonderful husband turns 27 this weekend and I think he’s feeling old.  Luckily I still have my youth and I’ll remain 26 for three more months, ha!  It’s amazing how quickly time passes and before we know it, we’ll both be 30.  I’ve been thinking about putting together a list of things I’d like to do before I hit that big birthday, and then my dear, sweet sister-in-law put together her own list of goals to hit before she turns 25 (ahh to be young again Winking smile).  So I’m following her lead and compiling my own list of thirty goals to achieve by the time I turn 30.  Here it goes!

Etsy Explorer: A Daily Dose of Inspiration

Hello friends. Today I’ve got a small case of the Mondays. I feel like I could lay on the couch and watch Downton Abbey all day (not that I’ve already watched three episodes in a row or anything). But with one of these cheerful inspirational prints around I might never succumb to the Mondays again.

This Week in Instagram

I don’t have anything groundbreaking to share with you all today, but I did have a fairly busy week which took me to various parts of this great city.

Last Friday I had a meeting (followed by some shopping!) at the Country Club Plaza.

Sunday I went to Independence to drop something off with my father-in-law, who happened to be working on a house just down the street from Harry Truman’s home.  Mr. President had a pretty lovely home, didn’t he?

And yesterday after work I stopped by Fervere bakery in KC’s Westside neighborhood for the first time and had the pleasure of buying their Valentine’s Day loaf.  It had almonds, cranberries, and Christopher Elbow chocolate.  Oh my goodness, was it delicious.

I hope all of you had a great week too!  Have a wonderful weekend!
